Tips & Tricks For Searching
To speed up your search and give the smallest number of results, narrow your search by as many categories as is possible. The more information used to narrow the search, the better. However...
If you are having trouble locating a case you are sure is out there, try reducing the number of search criteria you are using. You may have entered the wrong information into a field by mistake.
You are not allowed to do a search by county only, as that would bring back far too many results. If you're looking for a case in a specific county, then be sure to also try narrowing your search by type of case, judge, or some other criteria.
Search Criteria
Name
What is it for?
This field is for the name of one of the parties involved in the case you are looking for.
How do I enter it?
The name should be entered as Last name,FirstName,Middle Initial if you are going to enter a full name for an individual. Remember to leave out spaces between the commas! If you exclude the commas, or put spaces between the names, then it's possible that you will not receive a match.Example: Lyons,Kevin,M
If you are entering a business name, type it as you would normally.
Criteria
The name is found through a case-insensitive search that matches the string you've typed in. This means that, should you type in the name to search as "Smith", as long as the name "Smith" (or "SMITH" or "smith", etc.) is at the beginning of the name (as in "Smith,John", but not "Asmith,John"), then you will get a match.
Please note that this method of searching will NOT catch mispellings (ie if you entered "Simth" not "Smith"). If you are unsure of the spelling of a name, you may want to try several searches.

Year
What is it for?
This field narrows your search by giving a start year for searches. In other words, if you wish to search all cases from 2001 to present, you'd select 2001 on the Year menu. Please Note: The year is determined by when the case was entered, not by when it was filed. As such, cases filed late in December of the previous year may be present.
Criteria
Simply select the year you wish to limit your searches with from the drop-down menu.
